If you are lucky enough to have Martin Luther King Holiday off, come join me on a moderately strenuous hike from Harvey West Park/Pogonip to University of Santa Cruz Reserve Property.
We will enjoy hiking through oak forests, second growth redwoods, and open meadows with views of the ocean, and will be zig-zagging through Pogonip to see most of the historic sites including the lime kilns and polo field. We then head over to the UC property to check out the rock garden and explore some unmarked trails that lead to the cats memorial and totem pole. This hike will be strenuous because of the moderately fast pace and elevation gain. If you have not hiked with me before feel free to email me with questions. We will be crossing unmarked trails that are somewhat confusing so we will need to stay together. Wear good hiking boots, layered clothes; bring water, lunch, snacks. Drinking water and bathrooms available at Harvey West Park. No dogs, please.
Rain cancels the hike (we can only hope!) or if only threatening I may shorten the hike.
Please read the FAQ. This is an 'at risk' activity. By joining us on this hike you agree to hold the organizers, assistant organizers, and other members harmless. You are responsible for your own safety on the hike.
