Land of Medicine Buddha Hike

Distance: 5.8 miles

Gain: About 1600 feet

Trail Conditions: Some narrow trails bordered by poison oak.

What to bring: Water, snacks, tick repellent, rain jacket and hat if rain threatens.

Loop through deep forest. The terrain is steep and rugged similar to Nisene Marks. Almost no direct sun. There is one stretch where the trail is narrow and slippery with a steep drop off so consider this if you have balance or coordination issues. The full hike is strenuous and not a good hike for beginners.

It can be cooler here than Santa Cruz so bring layers.

Carpool from the white church parking lot, enter from Main St near Soquel (the church building is closer to Center St).  If you aren't going to be a carpool driver then park on the street nearby since we don't actually have permission to park in the lot.

Please read the FAQ. This is an 'at risk' activity. By joining us on this hike you agree to hold the organizers, assistant organizers, and other members harmless. You are responsible for your own safety on the hike.

This hike is such a special place to hike. I am glad we were able to go in lieu of the other Meetup group's lack of consideration and respect. I appreciate the integrity we have individually and as a group.
    Thanks, Rich

Due to circumstances, that I will explain later, I would prefer not to have any dogs on this hike.

Excuse the downer news but I have quite a reaction to contact with poison oak.

I was up in the area and the poison oak is quite prevalent - think I will wait for the next one. Have fun!

Yes, part of the trail is narrow, and full of poison oak. I am wearing long pants for sure!

I am heading out of town for a two week trip. Look forward to joining a hike when I return.
