6/1 10-Noon DC's energy future - public meeting this Saturday - CPPWG

From: Philo C.
Sent on: Thursday, May 30, 2013, 4:28 PM
NOTE:  The Architect of the Capitol "AOC", proposes to get a DC permit to burn more coal at the Capitol Hill Power Plant in a populated neighborhood south of the House Office Building, South Capital Street and New Jersey Avenue SE.  CPPWG is the Capitol Power Plant Working Group, of the Sierra Club and others.
Getting the AOC to stop burning coal was the object of a direct action, with national and local involvment and direct protest, i.e. blocking the plant gates, in 2011, which led to a statement by then House Speaker Pelosi that coal burning would be minimized. Boehner is now House Speaker.  The Saturday program with be about many issues, not just the Capitol Power Plant.

Does anyone want to listen or speak to DDOE about DC's energy future?
They are sponsoring a public forum this Saturday from 10-12.This would be an ideal venue for explaining that burning coal in the City is not a sustainable practice.
