Actually Ga. Power has a similar program, it’s mostly landfill gas but there is a solar option.
If you have a reasonable southern exposure(I don’t) you should just put up your own panels, with the lower prices, the tax credits, and the low interest rates it makes sense.

Found this article on the Dallas News page that I wish to share with the group.

....

Dallas electricity retailer Stream Energy launched a renewable energy certificate product that allows people to offset their electricity use with renewable certificates.
The Clean Nation program offers renewable energy subscriptions for $19.95 a month. The customer gets a certificate showing 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity were produced using renewable fuels, such as wind, solar or biomass. The average household uses about 1,000 kilowatt hours per month.
Stream can sell the new product in any state, while the company could only sell electricity and natural gas in states that allow competition in those industries. And, the product applies multi-level-marketing to renewable energy.
”Through Clean Nation, customers throughout the United States will be able to join us in promoting the clean energy movement and greater energy independence for America,” said Stream chairman Rob Snyder in a statement.
For Texans in competitive electricity areas, the new product makes little sense. Rather than spend an extra $19.95 a month on top of the electricity bill, most Texans can just choose an electricity provider that uses purely renewable fuel. Stream sells renewable electricity for 9.7 cents per kilowatt hour, and competitors charge as little as 8.2 cents.
But people living in states with regulated utility monopolies might want to pay extra for renewable electricity.
Stream doesn’t generate electricity or operate wind turbines. Instead, those companies that do have wind or solar power get credits from the Environmental Protection Agency for using renewable fuel. The generators can sell those credits separately from selling the electricity.
Anyone who buys the credits may truthfully say he is using renewable energy. That’s because it’s hardly possible to track where, exactly, the electrons from a wind turbine go. So the credit ensures the electrons were produced, and allows someone to financially support the renewable industry.
Any Clean Energy subscriber can sell the product to others after completing a training course. The subscriber can earn cash through a multi-level-marketing program, similar to Mary Kay.
Stream has been using a multi-level-marketing program to sell electricity and natural gas in deregulated areas.
