“The voice gets to the soul of a person more than any other instrument. Because it’s the voice. It sings, it talks, it cries, it laughs, it squeals, it barks, it shouts, it whispers. There is no other instrument that can do that. We’re born with it.” (Bobby McFerrin). Come and re-experience this deepest form of singing together, creating the song as we go. It can be soulful, comical, wistful, or raucous -- whatever we are led, together, to sing! Facilitators Liz Kohlenberg and Debby Boland Watt have studied and improvised with Bobby McFerrin, Rhiannon, David Hatfield, Christian Swenson -- and many other friends and fellow singers. We want to spread this joyful, soulful art throughout the South Sound singing community! “For people who are ready to let go of "getting it right" and embrace letting it just happen … we will hone the arts of the improviser: deep listening, spontaneous expression, fluid awareness of self and others, working with change, and trusting intuition.” (David Hatfield).
