Created by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power highlights the flashpoints, the firsts, the best, the celebrated and sometimes lesser-known women who pushed rock and roll music and the American culture forward. Honoring 70 years of women in popular music, this interactive exhibition spotlights a vast array of artists through artifacts and video. From Mamie Smith’s first blues recording in 1920 through Lady Gaga’s most recent hits, the exhibit moves through rock and roll eras, weaving a powerful and engaging narrative that demonstrates how women have been the engines of creation and change in popular music from the early years of the 20th century to the present.
