DC Area Online News Association Meetup Group Monthly Meetup

  • Jun 9, 2010 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

As promised, here are the details about June 9th.

The June meetup will be a change up from the usual format. Hosted at the Sunlight Foundation, Sunlight staff will give three different mini-sessions. It's like an unconference + speed dating. There will be a social mixer starting at 7 pm . At 7:20 pm , the three sessions will start simultaneously in different rooms. All the sessions will repeat three times, so you could do anything from attending all of them to attending none of them: you can keep drinking and chatting in the common areas. Module 1: Noah Kunin (Multimedia Content Producer) and Jake Brewer (Engagement Director) will give a session about Sunlight Live, a methodology to provide real-time contextual and fact-checking reporting to live events. Module 2: Jeremy Carbaugh (Lead Developer) will give a session on TransparencyData a central source for federal lobbyist registrations and federal and state campaign contributions. Module 3: Will be a session on Politiwidgets a service to provide up-to-date, embeddable political infographics from the Sunlight Foundation. Just a reminder that we are looking for sponsors for August and beyond. Please let us know if your organization would like to sponsor a meetup. As always, please spread the word about the meetups. The more the merrier!

People were terrific -- gracious, friendly, hospitable, entertaining. I was hoping for some more hands-on experience through ONA. Perhaps you could recommend where this could best and most affordably be obtained.

Great to meet people I've "known" on Twitter for a long time. Great location - to learn about the Sunlight Foundation.
