ONADC August Meetup - National Journal

It's time for more summer fun!

ONADC friends extraordinaire Dave Beard and Ethan Klapper are hosting in August — and they have a ridiculously cool evening planned. You won't want to miss the chance to meet the awesome crew from National Journal and network at The Watergate.

Bonus? There's a special guest: Atlantic Senior Editor Alexis Madrigal, who will share emerging/cool/new technology that's on his radar.

A bit about Alexis: He's the author of  Powering the Dream: The History and Promise of Green Technology. He co-founded Longshot Magazine, a high-speed media experiment that garnered attention from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and the BBC. While at, he built Wired Science into one of the most popular blogs in the world. He also cofounded Haiti ReWired, a groundbreaking community dedicated to the discussion of technology, infrastructure, and the future of Haiti. He's spoken at Stanford, CalTech, Berkeley, SXSW, E3, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and his writing was anthologized in Best Technology Writing 2010 (Yale University Press).

We are pretty stoked to have Alexis at ONADC!

See you in August!

- Tiffany, Laura and Matt

A few extra notes on getting there and getting in:

• National Journal is about four blocks from Foggy Bottom, and there's a bike rack right across the street. Should be easy to find.

• Please give us your first and last name. You know the drill. Don't make Tiffany mad.

Good group of people, very nice venue at the Atlantic offices. Really interesting presentation.

How do you engage DC's most innovative audience? Tried to do thoughtful but unobtrusive leaving segment in an adjacent space, so that members could choose after long day if they wanted to keep socializing or learn a few new tricks. Both groups seemed satisfied.

Fabulous -- met some really great people and had an excellent time. Only point of criticism -- there could have been slightly more drinks available.

It was so fun! I had such a great time talking to everyone that I missed out on the presentation!

With this view, I taking any future complaints of poverty by Atlantic or NatJo with a grain of salt. ;-)
