Meeting: In the carpark next to the Greyhound pub Burton on the Wolds.
Transport: By car 25 melton road Burton on the wolds, post code LE12 5AG Public transport options limited but I could pick up a couple of people at 10.00am from Loughborough station.
Description: A delightful walk of 1 1/4 hour walk starting in Burton on the Wolds with some fine views of Prestwold hall and church, passing by what was Wymeswold airport but now used for gokarting. Plenty of curious sheep and also horses. Return is via footpaths, woods and open fields to the village and a well deserved coffee/drink.
Conditions: Mostly good paths through fields and woods but definitely some muddy sections and the walk does go across an open but ploughed field. We use woodland paths, fields and some paved footpaths. There is one stile, several sleeper bridges and assorted gates. At one point we briefly cross and recross a busy road.
Afterwards: Greyhound pub for a coffe/drink/bite to eat.
