Abbey Park - meet at the car park on ST MARGARET'S WAY

Where to meet: car park on St Margaret's Way side of the park. This is the car park just beyond St Margaret's Bus Station and St Margaret's Church.

Parking: approx. £2.40 for 3 hours.

Where the walk will go: meandering around the park

Terrain: wheel friendly - almost all tarmac and pretty much all flat

Where we will go after: we will try to fit in the tea room inside the park but I can't promise anything because we really struggled the last two times because there were too many of us to fit!

    Lovely morning, lovely walk.
Good to meet a few new people,
albeit briefly. Shall aim for the Aylestone
walk next as on the doorstep.
    Thanks for organising this.

Hi. For people asking which car park, it's the one on St Margarets Way. The other car park is on Abbey Park Road so there's little chance of going to the wrong car park so long as you're on St Margaret's Way. It's the car park just beyond St Margaret's Bus Station and St Margaret's Church. If you click on the location above, a map should open up so you can see which car park it is. I dragged the pointer to the exact location of the car park to pinpoint where the car park is so there wouldn't be any confusion. If the map above won't open, if you look for St Margaret's Way on a map, or google it, you should see a car park on the edge of Abbey Park that is just beyond St Margaret's Bus Station and a church. It's the shaded grey area next door to St Margarets Pastures sports ground. Hope that helps. Not sure I can possibly give any more detail than that. It's around 15mins walk from St Margaret's bus station, or 3mins drive from it. Look for St Margarets Way on a map and cant go wrong!

Anyone got any ideas of where we can go for a drink afterwards or shall we just give it a miss on this occasion given the lack of nearby places that will fit us? Is there a pub nearby?

Hi, is there a post code for this car park please as I understand there are a few different ones around the park and I'm not sure how to get there. Thanks!

I'll be making the trip over from Hinckley for my first walk! If anyone needs a ride over I'm happy to give someone a lift. This is probably a daft question but is there plenty of spaces in the car park? I'll be letting my satnav guide me in!

    Dear all,

In view of the rain and the 25mph winds expected in Leicester tomorrow morning, I thought rather than us having a miserable walk, or cancelling it completely, I'd offer to adjust my weekend plans and lead the walk next Saturday 22nd Feb instead. All details will stay exactly the same except we are meeting one week later than originally advertised. Hope that sounds good to you. Please adjust your RSVPs accordingly. Thanks.

    See you in a week,

    Lizzie

Is that car park within easy reach of St Margaret's bus station? I thought I might come in on the bus.

    February 8, 2014

    • Gareth W.

Yes it is. the easiest way to get there from the bus station is to cross the road using the bridger over the road, turn left and follow the pavement around to the right, when you see some astroterf courts, that is the car-park.

How about meeting at the Tea Rooms?

    January 26, 2014

    • Lizzie H.

We'll certainly try. From experience it's proved extremely difficult in the past due to the size of the group!
