First Friday's Art Walk in Oakland

Let's check out First Friday's art walk in Oakland!

What is the art walk? Every First Friday of the month, member galleries are open to the public from 6-9 pm. Additionally 23rd Street between Telegraph and Valley is closed to car traffic, and craft, art, and food vendors are set up along this corridor.

I actually discovered the walk inadvertently last summer and was really blown away. It was quite impressive. A lot of people come out and there are plenty of musicians and cool art to check out.

I know that it'll probably be more fun in the summer but (barring heavy rain) I'd love to check it out next month.

Just to keep it simple, let's meet first at Luka's Tap Room. From there, we'll begin our trek to the art galleries and open spaces.

Last time I went (inadvertently mind you) parking was difficult so I would suggest taking bart if possible. I'm probably going to stay for the whole three hours so feel free to come later on and catching up with us if you like.

I thought it was a good event. Especially if you were like me and aren't able to do a lot of events with the group. Good people, interesting art and a different kind of Oakland crowd. Now if you are claustrophobic it may be a bit much because most of the galleries were small and there were a lot of people out for the Art Walk. Much more than I expected. Overall though it was an experience I'd advise everyone to do at least once. Thanks Lekeisha.

Nice event. Enjoyed checking out the art galleries, meeting new friends and the dinner afterwards too. Thanks for organizing Lakeisha!
