Last week was fun: shovelling dirt, weeding and carting wheel barrows full of mulch (really it was!) And I'm told One Brick needs more hands for this sunday's project: Mulching trees for the EPA Tree Initiative. See ya there? The weather will be nice-r :)

The Collective Roots Garden Project is used as an outdoor garden classroom to help young urban leaders understand where their food comes from and how their actions impact human and environmental health.

One Brick volunteers will help keep the school gardens in good shape. Projects include building new garden beds and bird feeders, cultivating fruits and vegetables, mulching, weeding, and working on the irrigation system. This is a great way to burn off some of those extra calories from the holiday festivities while doing something rewarding!

About Collective Roots:

Collective Roots is a teacher, student, and community member run gardening project that is designed to increase school-community pride as well as parent and community involvement. The outdoor garden classroom is used to teach a wide variety of academic subjects as well as environmental stewardship.

Other Event Info:

Gloves, tools and water will be provided (feel free to bring your own gloves, if you prefer). This event is rain or shine!
