The Purpose:
?Many Haitians are still in need -- desperate need in some cases, of shelter and food and medicine. And with the spring rains approaching, those needs will only grow. The challenge now is to prevent a second disaster?--- Barack Obama
Two months following January's 7.0 earthquake, the situation for many Haitian remains dire. An estimated 1.1 to 1.5 million people lack permenant shelter and millions more lack access to proper sanitation, clean water and food. It is hard to fathom. Much of the assistance from larger organizations such as the Red Cross is currently being distributed is being delivered to large-scale camps rather than small isolated areas. There remains areas where hundreds are still awaiting assistance.

The purpose of the event is to maintain awareness and focus on the continued emergency in Haiti and to raise funds to assist local grassroot rebuilding efforts in Haiti. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go to Global Fund for Women and the Haiti Emergency Relief Fund, two non-profits supporting locally led Haitian non-profit rebuilding efforts. All while taking in the fabulous Fillmore.

Requested Donation: $25 in advance, $35 at the door- Considering the venue, the food and the performances, this is a really low price.
Registration: Tickets can be purchased online via eventbrite here.

Alternatively, advance donations can be mailed to: Paulett Barnes
* Jazz Heritage Center* 1320 Fillmore St. * San Francisco, CA
Make your check payable to the Global Fund for Women or the
Haitian Emergency Relief Fund, as desired
