As all my old school [masked]) Onyx members know, I've celebrated my birthday with the Onyx family every year and every year, it's been very special and always a really fun time (check out the pictures here
). Well this year will be the same but with a little twist. Instead of doing the dinner then dancing thing, I figured we could kick the party off with a little '80s nostalgia by watching one of my favorite movies of all time- "Coming to America"
I'm sure most of you have seen this movie but just in case here's a basic description I located on the internets:
The screenplay was written by David Sheffield and Barry W. Blaustein, from a story by Eddie Murphy, who also stars in the film. Murphy plays an African prince, who heads to the United States in hopes of finding a woman he can marry. Coming to America is the first of several films in which Murphy plays multiple characters.
This movie is so over the top and pokes fun of so many things that it makes me giggle just typing this out.
We will be watching this movie in a state of the art private theater at the Uptown courtesy of Onyx member Ignacious. The event is FREE
for us but space is limited to thirty people so please only rsvp if you are going to be able to make it. Also, I'll need names for the guest list so if you go by an alias, please let me know your name before next Friday
As for food and drinks, I'm bringing my favorite kind of cake and a bottle of champagne. Please feel free to bring food items (chips, soda, popcorn) to share.
After the movie, we'll hit the town as detailed in the following event. See you there!
