Not sure if I caught this right or not, but I don't do windows either and can share or deny any of my folders on DropBox with Linux.  I don't let it install in the default user path but force it into /home/files/Dropbox and that give better permissions and rights control as the /home/user/Dropbox will not let any file be shared on the Linux side, but can where I put it.

Not sure if that is an answer to your problem, but it is what I do!

well thats my point, i cant share it as a link unless i put into the public folder, but thats not secure.  & if i share another folder, then the users get more than view only access.  links are the only way to give them just view only access in dropbox.

yeah i was shocked about the no linux version on gdrive.  no mac one either.  but its an app by a 3rd party, available on google marketplace, so dont blame google too much i guess.  i find even more weird gdrive is a google product vs 3rd party one.

they have time to distribute pretty multi color bikes that match their logo but they dont have a linux version of something as important as gdrive?
