Not sure if I caught this right or not, but I don't do windows
either and can share or deny any of my folders on DropBox with
Linux. I don't let it install in the default user path but force it
into /home/files/Dropbox and that give better permissions and rights
control as the /home/user/Dropbox will not let any file be shared on
the Linux side, but can where I put it.
Not sure if that is an answer to your problem, but it is what I do!

links are the only way to give them just view only access in
yeah i was shocked about the no linux version on gdrive.
no mac one either. but its an app by a 3rd party, available
on google marketplace, so dont blame google too much i guess.
i find even more weird gdrive is a google product vs 3rd
they have time to distribute pretty multi color bikes that
match their logo but they dont have a linux version of
something as important as gdrive?
