Good test that the printer itself can handle the job size.
I've seen whole jobs thrown away if it runs out of internal memory.

So the "print server" is an Ubuntu box, running CUPS, that is connected via... USB?
I didn't see the "n" for networking at the end of the Dell 1320c. (should be cn?)

To clarify:
A)  Client (Ubuntu/Win) printing via LPD over socket (network) to...
Server (Ubuntu) running CUPS printing via USB to Dell printer

B)  Client (Ubuntu/Win) printing via LPD over socket (network) to...
Server (Ubuntu) running CUPS but then printing over socket(network)to...
Printer (Dell/Lexmark) built in print server card.

C)  Client (Ubuntu/Win) printing via LPD over socket (network) to...
Server (Ubuntu) running CUPS but then printing over socket(network) to...
Print Server (Brand?) printing via USB to Dell printer.

Also: When sending the job, does the data light on the printer ever flash? (receiving data)

no no, ok now i see what u meant.  it is a central ps for lots of users.  thats what fails.  so i plugged it into 1 client via usb, installed driver, it works w/o issues.

i didnt use cups on the client & test b/c whats the point?  even if it works, it doesnt resolve not working on the central ps via cups.  thats the one i have to fix.
