Introduction to programming with Python

Please join us for an introduction to Python using PythonTurtle.  This hands-on workshop will see you coding and making your first concrete steps into the world of Python. This event will be followed by more Python workshops with other themes and exercises (to be announced soon).

Please consider that this workshop is designed for Python beginners. If you already have some practical knowledge of it, you might want to skip this introduction and attend one of our future Python workshops focusing on more specific cases.

Coffe and tea will be kindly offered by our host Omnicloud. Please feel free to bring snacks, fruit, kanelbulle or anything you'd like to enjoy a fika break together.

Because the number of seats is limited, it is important that you only sign up if you definitely plan on coming (and do so, too!). If you can't make it for any reason, please cancel your attendance on Meetup right away so your someone on the waiting list can take your place. Thanks!

And if there are no more spots available: join the Waiting List! We are currently discussing to open the event to more learners, so stay tuned!

Suggestion for future python topic: Python generator expressions. I now finally managed to learn it by studying David Beazleys slides (http://www.dabeaz.com/generators/), but I think this is really something that a wider audience should know about, and learn.

Basically it's a very easy and intuitive way to write code that processes things in a pipeline without loading everything in memory, which means you get very memory efficient and fast code, while it also becomes super easy to change parts of the "pipeline". Super nice for processing large text files or other data of large amounts, that is not suitabel for loading into memory at once.

If needed, I could probably help with this.

I listened to Amélie's talk at the Python meetup at Spotify yesterday and it got me interested in this project. I'm not going to take up a spot for this event as I have already used Python for several years, but I'd like to swing by a few moments at least just to see just what you are doing. The Open TechSchool concept seems really great and I'm be interested in helping with future events, so I want to see for myself how things work :P

I see there's 4 spots left, but it says "too late to RSVP" when I try. I hope I can show up anyway - would love to learn python and just programming in general! I was sure I'd signed up for reserve spot to this event earlier in the week, but it seems to have been some sort of error..!

Really sorry about that Niclas. We've just fixed that RSVP setting. You can now officially register (until the workshop starts), but of course you are also welcome to join us without RSVP, you are on our list now ;).
