Social Coding with Github

  • September 25, 2013 · 7:00 PM

This is the second of the two parts Social Coding with GitHub workshop.

This time will let you practice your new skills. You will also learn more neat things that you can do with GitHub: We will prepare some extra topics for you to explore.

If you didn't join the first session last Wednesday, you're still welcome!
If possible, you should already have read through the first part of  Social Coding with GitHub (the three chapters in "Core"). But if you get stuck, just come to the Colab and we will help you get up and running!

I liked this lesson. No fuss start-up (OK I had git already installed). I liked that the lesson makes use of the fact that there are others participating. You can see how the different roles in a distributed development pan out and you run into pitfalls that need to be resolved when your changes are not acceptable and need to be rolled back or updated.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
