Friends School plant sale

The sale will be May 9, 10, and 11, 2014.

Details, including sale times each day, parking and hints on having a successful trip to the sale, are on their website:

http://www.friendsschoolplantsale.com/

Also included is their statement on avoiding plants treated with neonicotinoids. "The plant sale has worked hard to make sure our plants have not been treated with neonicotinoids, common pesticides that are now suspected of killing bees and other pollinators." (A more complete statement is on their website, as well.)

The Friends School Plant Sale is entirely volunteer-run. More than 1,000 people do everything from building display tables to shelving plants, and from tallying up orders to packing it all up after the sale is over.

Kathy and Joy - I'm ready to sign up but wondered if we might want to do a shift together. Have either of you signed up already? - Mary

It's pretty intense; volunteers do not have a lot of chance to socialize--it's too busy! E.g., tallying, which is what I have done, is pretty constant adding-machine work the whole shift.

Got an e-mail reply from the sale folks. Volunteering will open up on Feb. 1st.

I just went to their website and they're still not ready for 2014. I was able to subscribe to their email updates. Hopefully that will let me know when it's time to sign up for the plant sale.

Yes, I've been trying to keep an eye on it. When I notice that the volunteering is open, I'll let folks know.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
