Volunteer Guidelines

*Updated information as of 3/18/10*

*Required reading before signing up to volunteer*

If you would like to volunteer to help set up, allocate produce, usher, tear down, sweep or clean at the next Meet up please confirm your agreement to the Volunteer Guidelines via the email address at the bottom of this thread. We are now accepting volunteer sign-ups for two locations: Farm Artisan Foods in Redlands and as of March 27th, The Highland Springs Resort in Cherry Valley (see Our Sponsors for more information).

Once you have read the Volunteer guidelines email your agreement by clicking the I agree button at the bottom of the page. Please include the location and dates you are interested in volunteering. We will confirm your Volunteer slot and duties by email. Please check your email to verify that you are confirmed to volunteer.

We would like to encourage a variety of our membership to volunteer. We will only accept walk ups if we have not filled all volunteer slots. You may also sign up to be on a volunteer standby list. This would enable us to call those willing to volunteer if more help is needed.

We need volunteers to help from 8:45-11:30. If you can not stay the whole time, please indicate what time you plan to arrive and what time you plan to leave. We prefer everyone to stay as long as possible. We need volunteers to help with clean up.

We will designate each person a task(s). Please be prepared to sweep, mop, clean benches and tables, break down boxes, pick up trash, de-ice produce, carry heavy boxes up to 30 lbs or more, allocate produce into the baskets and give them to members, clean the baskets with a cleaning solution and return them to their designated place upstairs, weigh produce and bag loose items among other odd jobs.

We will be wearing gloves. They will be supplied, so please be aware that you will be asked to wear them. We understand that the produce may have been through many hands, but our hands will be clean. Thank you!

Please note that if you are injured (i.e. back, foot, arm) we would appreciate if you did not volunteer that week but heal instead, as we need our volunteers to help in all areas.

If the organizers have not arrived by 8:45, please wait for them. Sometimes there are delays at the warehouse, or bad traffic coming up from L.A. If the restaurant is open please begin set up if you know our routine.

We don't mind having children help or even hanging out, however, we will only allow children twelve years and older in the volunteer/work area. Please do not bring children under the age of twelve while you are volunteering unless you have someone to watch them outside the volunteer/work area. We believe that children should learn to give back to community and learn about where our food comes from, but we must ask that they be supervised so that they are not in the way when we are hauling boxes around. We have been asked that they do not enter the restaurant unless you are with them. They can not be running around the restaurant. Thank you!

When you sign up, please consider it a commitment.

We are so thankful for every one of you!! You make it possible to run smoothly.

The Volunteer Organizer will allocate participant volunteer baskets. To pick up your volunteer basket please see the Volunteer Organizer for your site. Please note, if you must leave early or must come latter a half share basket will be allocated to you. See disclaimer below.

If a member has donated produce/herbs from their yard they must see the Volunteer Organizer.

If there are unclaimed participant shares they will be allocated as the Organizers agree upon for that week.

Disclaimer: The first benefit of volunteering is giving back to your community a service of your own free will.
The second benefit is receiving your share baskets first. Please note we can not guarantee that you will always receive a volunteer share basket. By signing up to volunteer, you are acknowledging that you have read and agree to all terms in this notice.

Thank you very much for your help! smile
