Member Introductions Day Picnic at Lake Eola!...during Orlando Farmer's Market

Or first picnic in a year, we've been wanting to do this since July but have delayed it due to the weather and other Meetups. Please bring at least $5 worth of food. Bring chairs, blankets, towels, and small tables if you'd like.

If you need something last minute or want to get something super fresh then no worries, Orlando Farmer's Market runs at Lake Eola every Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

We will meet in the grassy field area at the north eastern corner of the lake across from Panera Bread.

www.orlandofarmersmarket.com

Street parking is free on Sunday, although expected to me limited due to the Farmer's Market popularity.

It is strongly recommended to use the FREE, SAFE, MULTILEVEL GARAGE PARKING directly across from the American Momentum Building we use for our normal 310 Lakeside event located on Pine Street...there is no attendant on that day so you'll get a stub going in but won't have to pay anything when leaving.

*Update*

Weather forecasts have shown it will be nice, warm, and 0% chance of rain.

Feel free to invite as many guests as you'd like, it is a family friendly picnic too.

The rules for Lake Eola park isn't listed online, normally alcohol is not allowed in public areas although you will probably be fine if being discreet about it. During the big Farmer's Market that will be going on Orlando Brewing usually sells their beer in the designated courtyard area on the south east part of the park. As far as I know drinking is fine there but is prohibited outside of it.

Glass is not allowed in the grassy area. Dogs are OK but please make sure they are on a leash and pick up after them. We'd prefer you not bring them but that's fine if you'd like.

We look forward to seeing you this big Sunday afternoon starting at 12pm!

Please look at our event page closely for further info/updates and contact us if you need to find us or have questions.

Thanks,

Curt

The best and biggest Members Intros Day we've ever had, great to see all those that came out. I'm glad you liked my picnic concept, I'll set up another one within the next few months.

Hi Jennifer, I did end up finding a way around the street closing. It took me a while to find a parking though. It was overall a success once you passed this minor obstacle.

I have heard Lake Eola is pet friendly, so I may bring my 2-year old German Shepard. Her name is Ruby.

    October 27, 2012

    • Pat A.

Yes very dog friendly. Water bowls at the farmers market. Poopy bags all around the park. Most all restaurants downtown are dog friendly outside.

      October 27, 2012

  • Curt

As I mentioned to Suzi on the phone, it starts at 12pm and most people run a little late. Some of you may want to quickly unload your things near the Panera Bread then go park at 310 Lakeside, or somewhere else close by (if you can find a spot). ALSO NOTE: There is a Publix supermarket down the road half way between the farmer's market and 310 Lakeside on E Central Blvd.

I will bring a large cooler full of ice and water plus a small table

    October 27, 2012

  • Suzi Y.

I am bringing a small folding table, 2 chairs, small cooler of drinks and food. I think I will need some help carrying them all by myself. Is anyone going early around 11am. I have never been to the Farmer's Market and I want to get a good parking spot so, that is why I am going earlier.

    October 27, 2012

  • Claire C.

That sounds like fun and a good venue to bring the kids to hang out.

For those of you who have not put down what they are bringing or am not sure, we still need plates, cups, utensils and serving utensils. All of this would be great. I also only see 1 person bringing water and 1 bringing soda.. with 100 people I think we will need more of each other these as well. If possible please update your RSVP and put in the comments what you are bringing so we are all able to see it better. Curt and I are so excited that you all are coming to the picnic. This might be the best Member Introduction ever.. Also as a reminder parking is FREE in Lake Eola on Sundays as well as the parking garage for 310 Lakeside which is on Pine Street. You must take a ticket but do not have to pay as the gate to exit is unmanned and open all day and evening.

There are not many places to sit at this park and it is more strict than most are since it is a very nice park downtown. I would bring only small tables, and other small items. We will also be passing out name tages like we normally do at the 310 Lakeside Members Intros Day so we should all be easy to find. Are cell numbers are posted above too if anyone needs to find us. Yes balloons might help too though. See you all soon.

    October 26, 2012

  • HEIDI

anyone have some balloons I can bring a blow up and tie to the table so the new members know exactly where we're at

    October 26, 2012

  • Suzi Y.

Hi everybody, I am so looking forward to this picnic. I am bringing a small folding table and 2 chairs. I don't know if I can carry all that and the food. Is there an area I can park and unload close to the event If not could someone help me? I plan on coming early around 11 am to set up if need be I can come earlier. If someone can help out email me and I will give my cell number so we can meet up.

How many people before we need a public assembly permit from the city??? LOL

    October 24, 2012

  • Stephen (The P.

Actually I looked at 2 different forecasts just now and both are saying there is ZERO chance of rain on Sunday. The hurricane outer effects will impact us through Friday and Saturday morning but not after. UNLESS it changes direction. So we should be good with sunny skies.

Are Hibatchi grills allowed in the park?

    October 24, 2012

    • Curt

I don't think so, but they probably wouldn't notice or care as long as you are being careful/discreet with it
