Hello Everyone. Val and I were glad to get so much positive feedback from our first meetup. We are strongly considering changing the event from biweekly to weekly.
Due to the size of The Space, the workshop will be limited to 20 attendees while we search for a larger location. Because of this limitation, we encourage you to only RSVP if you are sure you can go. Also if you RSVP and realize later you can't attend, try to cancel your RSVP as soon as possible so that someone on the wait list can take your spot. Any one on the wait list who doesn't get to attend the workshop will be given top priority the following week.
With all of that being said, hopefully we will just find a bigger location soon. Any info on a good venue would be highly appreciated. Our goal is to keep the workshop close to Winter Park.
The format will be as follows.
Level 101 will be the first hour. This portion is specifically geared towards people with little to no improv experience. It will be run by Val. Everyone is welcome, and it is absolutely free. It will also be a good way for people to warm up for the second portion of the workshop, level 201.
After Level 101 and a short break, we will have Level 201. This portion will be focusing on scene work, and more advanced improv concepts. This will be run by our Guest Improvisor: Lauren Morris. Stay tuned for a news letter with an introduction about Lauren. In order to participate in this portion you should already have some experience with improv. Level 201 will have a $5 dollar charge. Half of this money will go to The Space that is letting us use their building, and the other half will go to Lauren.
(For new people who will just be doing 101, I would encourage you to stay and watch level 201, it is a great way to speed up the learning process.)
If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email, or ask it in the Message Boards. Hope to see you there.
