Mexican Dinner Night

You would never suspect finding such authentic Mexican food in the Shinsaibashi district of Osaka, concrete jungle of Japan. El Pancho has been very popular since they first opened in 1979, and they will surely meet or exceed your expectations if you enjoy Mexican cuisine. (It's not the westernized version that most of you are used to) The restaurant also offer drinks that are off the Acapulco beach, Vegetarian meals, and I'm quite sure they make their own chips on site. The decor is legendary and tells the tale of thousands of satisfied customers who felt the need to leave a message on the walls, and with Mexican collectibles all over the place, it sure gives an authentic feel :)

I haven't decided whether we order by a la carte or do a course, but the price will be about 3000~4000 yen. If you prefer a vegetarian option, please let me know in advance.

The restaurant is located on the 8th floor of Shinsaibashi Tower, right across from UNIQLO. Take exit 1 from Shinsaibashi station and walk underground to North exit 8 which has escalator up to Shinsaibashi suji. (The building is on the right side, right off the exit.) The reservation is under my last name, Fukuda.

I just signed up for this Meetup website. It's my first time to come to this meetup thing... Since I wanted to make friends around Osaka and Kobe, I signed up for this Mexican Dinner Night. For those of you who are new to MeetUp, let me assure you that Ryuichi-san is an excellent host! He always makes sure that everyone is comfortable and happily introduces folks to each other.   I feel so lucky that a spot opened up! Can't wait to meet everyone! This is literally my favorite Mexican restaurant in Asia! Btw, Ryuichi, for those of us who tend to devour everything in site at Mexican places, it may be fairer for everyone to pay a la carte. But whatever is fine. :)

I, too, think it's always better to pay a la carte because that gives more variety in food, plus our preference must be different. The only problem, when we gather a large group, is that it takes a long time for the cooks to prepare all the meals at once. Sometimes, they forget some orders, too.. I still need to figure a few things about the food, but it's usually better to go with a course, in order to avoid any means of stress that is. I'll keep you posted!

Oh Ryuichi, I am so disappointed that I can't join you all at El Pancho, but I have "another engagement", as they say. Darn! I happened by chance onto El Pancho a few months ago and really enjoyed both the food and the experience. I'm from California in the States and really know good, authentic Mexican food. And I've been waiting for a chance to return. Oh well, next time, I hope. Enjoy, everyone!
