Software Patterns and Principles with Kevlin Henney

Kevlin Henney has agreed to do a very hands-on session about what he is very passionate about; software patterns and principles. This will be a one hour session where we can expect lot's of code and great advice. A perfect opportunity to learn from a master. After this session we want to have two live code kata's being presented by two of you. So if you have a code kata prepared that you are willing to perform and receive feedback from Kevlin and the rest of us of course, then now is your chance. Contact one of us to arrange this.

Kevin is very entertaining when talking and really witty. I guess i was one of those guys who has read THE BOOK and thought it was it.... but know i know better.

I'm taking this as the key lesson: It's all about awareness. Design patterns and principles are there primarily to help us think about the advantages and disadvantages of design choices.

A really well organised and delivered meetup. Kevlin is a true expert and concentrated on a fairly narrow field which I had hoped might be a little more generic - You won't please everyone :o) I guess I'll just have to buy the books to get in even deeper.

The katas were interesting to watch and well prepared. FizzBuzz is wearing a bit thin - again it's up to me/us to have more consructive suggestions. An open source problem base that builds small features everytime might be a fun idea?
