OSM Hack Day

  • Oct 6, 2012 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Some of us are already advanced OSM users with a long history in the project, including using the API for new applications, working on the rails port, routing, rendering, or doing statistical analysis on OSM data.

Let's get together and work on our projects. This will be a good place to get advanced help and collaborate with fellow OSM programmers.

While new folks will (always) be welcome, this meetup is for more advanced OSM users.

Hi all, I've contributed to OSM in the past and would be interested in expanding on what I've done to date (mostly just local fixes, new roads, buildings, etc). I can't make it this morning but hope to carve out some time later in the day to drop by. Is it ok to drop by later, say mid-afternoon?

Sure! Maybe get in touch then to see if we're still around?

I don't have anything directly OSM-related going on right now.

I would be open to: helping with Changemonger, looking at how to write JOSM plugins, or digging through bug reports.

Eric, it's a great opportunity to do any of these. if you want to help with Changemonger, I have a bunch of issues open on the github (some are harder than others). Josm plugins is something I'd love to dive into, but I don't know Java. Or if you're a Ruby person, maybe back on the Rails port. I could use some help on the rails port myself, since there are some new API calls I've love to add.

Hey, there seems to be a lot of interest in this meetup, which is awesome! This is a great opportunity for folks who are already familiar with writing OpenStreeetMap software to get together, do some show and tell, and get help on their newest projects.

I thought it might be fun to start by talking about the project you're working on and want to work on during the event. I'll start; I'm working on Changemonger, which consumes OpenStreetMap data and does object classification as well as English sentence "rendering" of OpenStreetMap data.

    What are you working on?
