Re: [osm-nyc] July Mapping Party and Happy Birthday to Us!

I don't know Staten Island that well (my trips there have been "let's see where this train goes to"  and "let's help in the post-Sandy cleanup"), but a look over the Google Map of St Georges (the place the ferry goes to) shows a bookshop/cafe with Internet called "Every Thing Goes" about 600m from the ferry terminal (, that might be a good place to meet up (except Sunday: it's closed on Sundays).

Maps of Sandy damage areas are below... many of these are on the train route across the island - including the hardest-hit area, which is off Dongan Hills station.  Choices include mapping St Georges (by meeting somewhere like the bookshop, we might get a few of the local internet types interested in mapping too); and taking the train to Dongan Hills and mapping the vulnerable area. Staten Island? It was badly hit, and I suspect doesn't have brilliantly
good mapping of it yet. Plus, you get to go on a boat to the party...
Sounds good.

Do you have a suggestion on a location where we could meet up?
