Operation Cowboy

There's still a wild west of messy map data in some parts of the U.S., but a new sheriff is in town...

Operation Cowboy is a global Mapathon on the weekend of Nov 23rd-25th 2012, where all mappers come together in local meetings and trace imagery the whole night long! It's a LAN-party like feeling for map enthusiasts, like the Night of the living maps but this time we are focussing on helping our community in United States.

Dan, that works for me. Should be a pretty nice day out there! That good with everyone else?

I'm interested in attending this meet up, but can't stay past 2pm. Will that be okay? Also, wondering if there is any specific software that I should install on my laptop (running Windows 7) for armchair mapping? Thanks.

Hey Daniel - sounds great! The only thing you really need to do some armchair mapping is JOSM (http://josm.openstree...) which has installers for all desktop platforms, including Windows. We'll finalize a location sometime today... Probably in Clearwater or St Pete somewhere.

I'm spending Friday night in Pass-a-grill. Any chance we could meet at the Hurricane? The street address is 809 Gulf Way St. Pete Beach, FL 33706

Any recommendations for a spot to meet up? We could go to downtown St Pete somewhere, like a Starbucks, or there's a Panera in Clearwater Mall that could work. What does everyone think?
