SpeedDating for Startups

  • June 27, 2009 · 1:00 PM

Back by popular demand! Do you have an idea for a startup and you're looking for founders who can get as excited about your idea as you are?

Or -- are you looking for an early stage startup to join - even if the compensation up front is sweat equity instead of salary?

Then SpeedDating for Startups is for you.

Post your Idea
If you have an idea for a startup and are looking for cofounders, I encourage you to post some information about what it is (even if you need to be vague) so people looking for a startup can find you. To post your idea on the OTBC wiki, go to this link. (If you don't want to reveal anything about the idea online, at least consider talking about what skill sets you'd like to add to the team so readers will know whether or not there might be a fit.)

Post your Skill Set
Are you looking for a startup to join? You can post your skill set on the OTBC wiki (so startups can find you) at this link. What: Speed dating for startups
When: Saturday, June 27, 1pm to 3pm
Where: OTBC
Cost: Free ($3 suggested donation to help cover costs) We'll provide beverages and munchies

Agenda for June 27
After some networking time, Carolynn Duncan will talk briefly about how to find cofounders. Then we'll have people who have a concept and are looking for cofounders give a 1 minute minute elevator pitch, have each of them head to their own corner of the room (with a sign so you can find them) and go back to networking to let people circulate around to check out the startups that sound interesting to them.

So mark your calendar, RSVP, and start honing your idea. We hope to see you on June 27!

I was impressed by the number of people who attended and the variety of backgounds and type of ventures being persued. The main presentation by Carolynn was quite informative. The one minute elevator pitch program was interesting and run well, and the presenters provided a sample of the tech scene around Beaverton. All in all a well organized and run event by Steve.

It was my first time attending this meeting, and I wanted to thank Steve for hosting it. I did not get a chance to tell him that the energy of the group completely blew my mind. I realized how narrow my vision of the startup initiative was. Thank you a thousand times for brining the group together. It was an eye opener.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
