OPAG Monthly Meeting

Speaker: Michael Soulier

Topic: Why Python?

While we normally assume a certain amount of Python knowledge for OPAG talks, this is not always justified. By request, this talk will provide an overview of the language, the technology, and why the presenter is using Python as his primary programming language.

The talk will assume basic programming knowledge in some other language, but no Python knowledge. A pragmatic approach is taken in the talk to presenting the major differences between Python and most other languages, including major gotchas and pain points.

The talk can then conclude with a lively discussion about our favorite features, pet peeves, and why everyone should hate Java. Well, maybe not that last point. The talk is only an hour long, afterall.
