Speaker: Ian Ward

(This talk is not Python-specific and was originally prepared for a group of software architects)

Developing products using open source tools and applications has become the norm, but most teams that have adopted open source software still develop in a closed-source style.

This talk will cover the ways developers and teams may benefit from active participation with their open source communities. Common tools and practices will be introduced and some of the unique aspects of working open source developers will be explored.

• Goals when working with OSS

• Profile of OSS communities and developers

• Contributing to OSS

• Becoming an OSS-friendly organization

I'll try to blog this with a little more than just the bullet points some time soon. I don't know how useful the slides are separately.

Ian's talk was fantastic. The event description really didn't do it justice.

theaimgroup.ca is sponsoring pizza and drinks again, and we've got time for more speakers if you have anything you'd like to present, or just hang around with us and argue about Python. Hope to see you Thursday
