Mother Falcon Clothing will be participating in June 2009’s 3rd Thursday Gallery Hop (in association with the Downtown Arts District) and will be hosting the ridiculously talented artist Swamburger. Mother Falcon takes an unusual twist with its 3rd Thursday Gallery Hop participation where you can not only view Swamburger's work, but you can also take home an Art T-shirt with Swamburger's original artwork on the shirt! With on-premise technology, Mother Falcon Clothing can apply art or text to any T-shirt in the store within 15 minutes.

Our April Meetup will discuss our community's local, independent movement and the city of Orlando's so-called "Buy Local Orlando" program. Once again Orlando's city-speak co-opts reality and is empty of authenticity. The city of Orlando's so-called "Buy Local Orlando" program is the opposite of the intentions and work of the Think Local movement and should be retitled "Buy Anything Orlando". The most troubling aspect of this is that the city cites the work of truly local, independent business networks as examples of what the city is doing. The city needs to get real. Please pass this along to other local, independent business owners and friends who share your concern for our community. Message from Julie Norris - Dear Friends, Just a quick note about the Buy Local campaign that the Mayor launched on April Fools, appropriately enough. Essentially, the city has pulled all the right sound bites, but they have decided to broaden the definition of local to include any business that has a business tax certificate - including any franchise, chain or big business such as McDonalds, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. This is just one more example of the City not really understanding what is at the heart of the matter - supporting authentic small business for a truly sustainable local living economy. For more details on this, including links to press articles and the Ourlando "Think Local" membership programs definition of "local" please read here: http://ourlando.com/ 2... Please circulate to other local, independent business owners so that they can make an informed choice before they jump on the city-speak bandwagon. Hopefully, this will encourage everyone to join the truly independent & really local Progressive Local Alliance for Community Enrichment (PLACE) today at http://ourlando.org. .. Locally & Independently Yours, Julie Norris, Co-Founder Progressive Local Alliance for Community Enrichment (PLACE) & the Ourlando Movement http://ourlando.org. .. Green Drinks where you can eat, drink, enjoy great music, talk and learn about the issues concerning our environment and the Ourlando community.
