 OUR VIBE AND OUR VISION

Our Village is a socially conscious community of Oakville area parents and their children, who gather to share resources and rich learning experiences, aimed at fostering a child's natural well-being. Meet-ups are designed with a view to nurturing the 'whole child', while enhancing our children's inherent respect and love of nature. Through this sharing of resources and ideas, Our Village aims to preserve and promote an inclusive, non-judgmental environment for all family members to share the passion of raising children in a positive, holistic community.

Our Village has a co-operative membership whereby each member's contributions are valued and encouraged. The 'Vision' of Our Village is complemented by like-minded businesses, professionals and educational centres.

Our Village began with a group of positive families who share similar personal ideals reflecting socially-conscious living. Our Village cultivates a community of inclusiveness, recognizing that families come in all shapes and sizes.

We are made up of families who have an interest in, who are striving towards, or who are currently practising a similar holistic lifestyle. Some shared philosophies include attachment parenting and engaging in green, healthy living. Wherever you may be on your journey, if our 'Vibe' and our ‘Vision’ resonate with your philosophies, come and be a part of Our Village.



OUR VOICE AND OUR VILLAGE

You can join Our Village as a family or as a representative of your family. Every member is an Assistant Organizer who can post meet-ups on the calendar and ideas and recommendations on the Message Boards, all with a view to sharing resources and information and learning from the experiences and knowledge of others. You can become as involved in your Village as you wish to or are able to.

You can post activities for fathers, mothers and the whole family. You can enjoy evening meet-ups for working moms and dads, weekend activities for the whole family, weekday activities for our babies, tots and pre-schoolers, Moms’ Nights Out, Dads’ Nights Out and even Date Nights! These are just some of the meetups which we hope you will take the opportunity to experience, to truly hear the 'Voice' of Our Village.

Your family will have access to and can contribute to Message Boards packed full of information relevant to all aspects of family life: Holistic Practitioners, Professionals and Services; Parenting Resources; Children’s Literature; Healthy Recipes; Age-appropriate Toys - the list goes on!

Our Village has an Advisory Committee which takes care of all of the administrative work required to run the website and assist with any queries on posting meet-ups or discussions.

Our Village hopes to foster a 'community spirit' among families of all shapes and sizes lead by the same moral compass. It is our hope that all members will act with honesty, integrity, respect and trustworthiness in their dealings with others and will be supportive of the decisions and choices of others. We urge you to stand up and speak out against any actions or omissions that degrade the self-respect of others. These are the characteristics we all, as parents, hope to pass on to our children. Let them see us modelling them so that they may learn from us.We look forward to sharing this journey with you and your family and to the enriching rewards such a journey will bring.
