We'll start from the river bottom and ascend up to Bruce Vento Overlook. Along the way we'll divert along some paths that led to some of this parks hidden treasures.
One of the best times to hike this park is when there are very few leaves on the trees. With no leaves one gets to see all the hidden treasures in this park. Here's a hint...did you know that about a billion, zillion years ago Minnesota was below the equator and its climate was sub-tropical, or that Minnesota once lay at the bottom of a shallow sea? This is a moderate hike with some steep areas along the trail. Please bring water bottles and wear good hiking shoes. Also, if you have a hiking pole it might not be a bad idea to bring at least one. I was grateful for it on the hike down, as it can get steep in some spots.
For those interested in a bite to eat afterward - please post a site if you are aware of one. I'll update later as to a possible place.
I've been trying to get to this park for many years - thanks for the incentive and making it happen, Sue! Nice sharing the walk with all of you.

Great hike with wonderful views from the bluffs! So much fun to hike with others who are also having a fun time!

I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to make it either. I have to take care of some errands this evening in preparation for a picnic tomorrow, and depending on how early I can leave from work to get them done I might not be able to get everything done this evening and also squeeze in a hike.

I may not be able to make it. Yesterday I decided to break in my new hiking shoes on a walk and ended up with a blister on both feet. Ouch!

The "carb fest" has been rescheduled to Monday night at 5pm.
Hope to see you there.

Please join me at 5 pm for a "carb fest meetup" at Buon Giorno Deli (35E and Rte 13) tomorrow prior to the 6:30pm hike.
They have a great pasta bar, the pasta is fresh cooked to order, plus sandwiches and pizza. They can seat about 50 people inside and maybe another dozen outside, but they can get very busy, so the closer to 5pm you arrive, the better.

I think I've made a good call on postponing this hike until Monday. Hopefully you all will agree with me. Not sure I'll want to load up on carbs beforehand, but afterwards is a definite possibility.

This is Dave Olson, reporting 'live" from Lilydale. Lot's of "white stuff" falling from the sky and it ain't pecorino romano cheese, so this evening's "carb fest" at Buon Giorno is cancelled. Ciao.

Will not be able to make it for any pre-hike activity, but I am familiar with the area and there are many options for a bite afterwards.
