Lake Byllesby Camping, Biking, Hiking, Canoeing, Kayaking, Boating Weekend

Lake Byllesby Regional Park is nestled in the scenic Cannon River Valley on Lake Byllesby Reservoir, the largest lake in southern Dakota County. This park is a great recreation destination with hiking trails that meander through savannahs and prairies along the shores of Lake Byllesby.

This will be an event packed weekend filled with lots of fun activities. There is so much to do in this area and over this weekend that it'll be difficult to pick and choose.

Cost: $20 per tent or $40 to have only one tent on one campsite. The cost covers the reservation fee. There is a $20 cost to sign up and if sharing your tent you can collect money from your tentmates.

PLUS (if you want to participate in grilling/eating)

Cost: $7pp which includes cost for firewood,  S’mores, bottled water, paper products for meals, charcoal and Saturday night grill food of chicken, hamburgers and/or bratwurst. This cost will be collected at some point during the weekend. **Please bring a dish to pass for Saturday nights grill-out.**

Two tents per campsite, with a total of 6 people per campsite. When signing up please indicate how many people will be staying in your tent, even if it is just “You.” That will allow me to make sure I assign campsites appropriately. At this time I’ve only reserved 2 campsites, but if there is a waiting list I can see about more campsites or people can make their own campsite reservations.

As of 5/9/13, there was one camper site left for this weekend. The camper sites go very quickly and are pretty much sold out for the summer. To make your own reservation go

We have one boat available, but it needs a truck or something to tow it down. If anyone has a truck for use or a boat that they’d like to bring down for some water fun please feel free to do so. If we have enough people we can do some water volleyball in the middle of the lake. Don’t worry it’s safe, as there is a large sandbar out in the middle that works great for water volleyball.

6:30pm: Grill-out. **Please bring a dish to pass.**

Sunday, August 4th:

10:00am: Tube the Cannon River down to Welch Village. For more info: http://www.welchmillcanoeandtube.com/

It was a wonderful weekend. Thanks Sue and Lee Anne. The "Doctor" liked it as well. I was able to share the tragic dog story with Kristin and Jerome on Saturday. :)

Thanks Kevin for the fun camp stories by the fire. The tragic dog story is a classic. We are still laughing! Thanks to Sue and Kevin and Kevin and Alec for being so nice and welcoming to us.

Thanks everyone for coming down. Great time and wonderful to meet some new people. Still don't know what the "tragic dog" story is. I do know Alex and Kevin T were sure enjoying it. Tried posting pictures from my camera phone, but it's now going through, but I'll keep trying.

  • Alec W.

I think I've registered for the camping and the feast. Looks like a great weekend weatherwise...

    August 1, 2013

    • Sue

Alec, I've got you down for site 111

      August 1, 2013

  • Sue

For the canoeing/kayaking we'll meet at the rental spot at 9am and probably won't get out onto the water until after 9:30am.

    July 31, 2013

  • Diane

Sounds like a lot of fun, but why are you kayaking so early in the moring when U have all day?

    July 31, 2013

    • Lee A.

Since this is a multi-activity weekend, we find it makes it more social if people spend the morning doing their specific activity (bike, kayak, golf, tennis) then everyone can socialize, boat, play water volleyball.. in the lake in the afternoon & have dinner together.

      July 31, 2013

    • Sue

We are going to take it easy cruising down the river. Plus if someone want to go for a short bike ride or vice versa or get out on the lake in their canoe/kayak they can.

Guess I Wont Be Coming At All. Unlike Lebanon Hills I Cannot Put My Small Camper On The Site!

Really Looking Forward To This Weekend! May Have To Bring My 2 Year Old Granddaughter, But Shes Easy And I Will Just Have To Adjust My Activities. Already Took Her Tubing Down ThE Kettle River Earlier This Month!

    July 31, 2013

  • Liz R.

Sue - I hadn't checked this site so the check is in the mail.

    July 30, 2013

  • Martha

was reassigned to work; just coming for the part of the day, not camping

    July 30, 2013

  • Judy

I have to move and am unable to go, now.

    July 25, 2013

  • Dave

I will be bringing a canoe to use if the river isn't too low.

    June 19, 2013

    • Dave

The canoe guys will haul it as a last resort. There is always the possibility of some other type of shuttle arrangement happening. But I won't worry about that til that weekend.

      July 3, 2013

    • Dave

I will no longer be bringing a canoe for weekend. I will be going to Lanesborro during the day on Saturday to play cowboy for their festival that weekend.

      July 15, 2013

  • Sue

I just filled the last campsite with someone from the Sitzmark Meetup group.

    July 10, 2013

  • Deb J

Thank you for your kind offer but I can't make it that weekend now. I appreciate you trying to include all of us.

    July 9, 2013

  • Sue

Deb & Martha, if you two are 110% sure that you want to camp then I can get one more campsite. I did get one more for Kevin and Kristen, but wanted to check with the two of you first about tenting. (There are only a few left.) Or you may want to contact Janet about sharing her tent.

    July 9, 2013

  • Linda

I guess i was assuming you could put two tents to a site. Is that correct Sue?

    July 6, 2013

    • Deano

That is correct Linda. $20 per tent and two tents to a site.

      July 6, 2013

  • Sue

Judy, if you are sharing a tent with someone then "no" you don't need to pay the $20. You do however need to make arrangements with someone on sharing their tent, and splitting the $20 cost. Janet is looking for people to share her tent, and Christina has offered. So please contact one of them and then let me know where you are going. I have to make sure there are enough parking stickers for all the campers.

    July 3, 2013

    • Judy

      with Christina

      July 3, 2013

    • Christina R

Okay, Judy - You can bunk with me and we'll just split the $20.00.

I Have A Tent ThAt Attaches To My Camper ThAt someone Can Sleep In.

    July 3, 2013

  • Keri

Hi Janet, I'm on the waiting list, but if this opens up I would be interested in sharing a tent. Thanks for offering.

    July 3, 2013

  • Judy

I am interested in sharing a tent.

    July 3, 2013

    • Judy

      Shakopee

      July 3, 2013

    • Judy

do I need to pay $20 online if sharing a site?

      July 3, 2013

  • Linda

There will just be one in my tent.

    July 3, 2013

  • Linda

I could camp with Liz on site 111.

    July 3, 2013

  • Christina R

Hi - I have a backpacking tent that is small so if they allow 2 tents in one site I could share a site with someone else. Or...I can put up a larger tent that one other person can share with me. Either way is fine with me.

    July 2, 2013

Yes Lee Anne I Would Likr To Golf On FridAy Night.

    July 2, 2013

    July 2, 2013

  • Janet

I plan to kayak and use my bike for the shuttle. I can carry 2 kayaks and 2 bikes if anyone wants to carpool. I also have a 3 person tent that I would like to share with one or two others.

    May 27, 2013

    • Liz R.

I'd like to carpool with you. Do you also have room in your tent?

      July 1, 2013

  • Sue

I've just listed the campsite assignments. Please see above for who is going to which campsite. I can get more campsites if needed.

    July 1, 2013
