Bike the Cannon Valley Trail

The Cannon Valley Trail is a 19.7 mile long trail that runs through diverse and spectacular scenery on a former Chicago Great Western Railroad line connecting the cities of Cannon Falls,Welch and Red Wing in beautiful southeastern Minnesota.

Paralleling the Cannon River, the Trail offers glimpses and panoramas of the valley and gradually descends 115 feet in elevation from Cannon Falls to Red Wing. From overhanging cliffs to views of extensive wetland complexes, nature's seasonal changes are vividly displayed.

The Trail is open year round for bicycling, in-line skating, skateboarding, hiking and walking, and similar wheeled recreational devices.  Trail users age 18 or older must have a valid Wheel Pass when using the trail from April 1st - November 1st . Don't forget to purchase your trail pass.

When done with biking head over the the Lake Byllesby Regional Park for some boating, socializing and if you want stay for an evening grill-out. The cost for the grill-out is $7, and includes cost for firewood, S’mores, bottled water, paper products for meals, charcoal and Saturday night grill food of chicken, hamburgers and/or bratwurst. **Please bring a dish to pass.**

It was a beautiful sunny day for kayaking/canoeing/biking! It also was a gorgeous night for a bonfire! The cannon Winery was wonderful, too! The people in this group are warm, friendly! It was a very pleasurable experience! Lastly, it was very good meeting & good conversations to see everyone!! Thank you'

Is everyone going all the way to Red Wing, or people do shorter distances? I am inclined to ride/rollerblade all they way if anyone interested.

Yes, I usually all the way & round trip. I not rollerblading this time but road biking.

What are the duties to be a event host? And where or how do I pay the $7?

And do I get to do my ride?

    • Lee A.

Yep - this event pretty much runs itself because it's an out & back course & can't get lost. You are there to greet people
