After Work Snowshoe on Lake Harriet

Lake Harriet was a great place to Snowshoe and is perfect for all levels. Beginners especially will enjoy the flatness and the ability to turn back early if tired or needing to be someplace else before the group gets back.

We'll meet at the Pavilion/Band Shell, on the side closest to the lake. We will start the hike no later than 6:10pm. There are several pay parking lots or there is street parking. If doing street parking please plan on an extra 10-15 minutes to find a spot and to get to the Pavilion/Band Shell on time. If you are late just look out onto the lake for a "red bobbing/moving glow." That'll be my head lamp which I'll be wearing on the back of my head. At this point we'll be heading to the right on the lake, from the Pavilion/Band Shell.

Turned out to be a great night. AND the ice was at least 2 feet thick. I asked and stick my pole in an ice hole so I know how thick it was.

Sue, was all packed and in the car, but traffic was stopped and know I wouldn't be there for another hour at this rate. Had to turn back. What a great night for this, though. Hope more made it through...

We are all running late because of the weather. An hour from St Paul should have been enough for me but I shall probably still be late

Traffic delays... start without me... if I don't catch up, I'll see you at the Cow!

I love the snow....but I don't love driving in it (especially when my travels would take me through both St. Paul and Mpls traffic snarls.... So, with regret I have canceled my RSVP for tonite's snowshoeing festivities. Drive safe and see you next time!

so you have gotten over your fear of falling through the ice?

    January 19, 2014

    • Sue

Not quite, but there's going to be a freeze before that so I should be OK. We were on some ice today and I was still nervous. So I need to work thru the fear by just walking on the ice.
