You will need to put a $20 deposit down (unless you are using a pre-paid Amazon/Living Social Deal)

We will be doing the 8 mile trip which takes 2-3 hours

Why is this stretch of river so special? Designated "Wild & Scenic" by the DNR, many miles along this stretch are still in their natural state due to the protection, regulations, and zoning that are associated with this title. Very few river stretches have this designation and protection. Because the Mississippi River is a major migratory corridor, paddlers will often see eagles, blue herons, egrets, hawks, and pelicans along with many other birds, mammals, and amphibians that call this area home. This stretch of the Mississippi River is shallow with a rocky bottom - poor conditions for motor boats but ideal for fishing, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddle (SUP) boards. With a gently flowing current void of any rapids, dams or falls, the paddling is ideal for people of all ability and the fishing is second to none.

Thanks for the organization LeeAnn. Had a great time. The eagle sighting was a nice bonus

    July 12

    • Kathy

I saw several. The sky picture I posted has a speck in it and that speck is an eagle.

      July 13

    • Jim W.

      Ah! such a graceful speck

Looks like I'm free the weekend of July 25 & 26 if anyone wants to do this again.

Just made a reservation. The guys says there are still openings and he does not have 30 reservations so some people signed up here have not yet reserved.

Clearwater Outfitters will make a box lunch for $10. Got to have the order in by this evening though.

    July 11

  • Jerry D C.

    yippee

    July 11

  • Kathy

I ordered a lunch to go from the outfitter. I assume we will stop along the way. Is that a correct assumption?

    July 9

    • Kathy

If most people aren't planning to lunch along the way then I won't either. Feedback welcomed on what people are doing. Lunching or not lunching, that is the question. :)

      July 10

I'm going to bring my dry sack to keep things dry and floatable. I think I'll bring some snacks and water and maybe a P&B sandwich. Stopping at one of the islands that Sherry mentioned is a very good suggestion.

      1 · July 11

  • sherry

I definately need food for this kind of excursion over the lunch hour and would love a stop at one of the several islands along the way--talked to the outfitter few hours ago.

Subway, DQ, Tacos, and Burger King also close by at the Clearwater exit off 94

Water! bring water because my guess is the Mississippi may not be Brita Filter pure. Nelson Bros. Restaurant at the Clearwater TS is pretty good. Could stop there afterwards.

I just called and reserved a spot! The guy said that he has everyone coming in at 10:30am and not leaving at that time. I just wanted to clarify the time to make sure that I reserved for the right group.

    July 9

    • Lee A.

Yes - right group. I misunderstood. We will prob leave a little after 10:30

      July 10

  • Jim W.

Hope I am not the only boarder, but that is what I am gonna be doing on Saturday. I don't want to be looking down on you guys, but I see no other alternative. Unless I fall in that is.

    1 · July 8

    • Sue

Oh, and if you do fall in we will come and rescue you.

      July 9

    • Jim W.

I think I can rent a grappling hook, so if I get too tired I'll just latch on to your kayak. Gives an entirely different meaning to "boarder" :)

      July 9

  • Leonikki

Are we still able to call and sign up?

    July 3

    • Tom

      Yes. I think so.

      July 9

    • Lee A.

Yes but they are running low on equipment so do it today

Is anyone bringing their own kayak and interested in shuttling each other's kayaks? If so, please let me know.

Joe: I am thinking of going and have an inflatable kayak, but my vehicle is not equipped with a 'yak rack.

      July 9

  • Jim W.

Waz sup? No other Stand-Up-Paddleboarders out there?

    July 9

  • Liz R.

    Jim,
I may have a leash you could use.

Doe anyone want to purchase my canoe groupon for this trip. scheduling is getting cramped for me.

    June 18

    • Lee A.

the groupon was for 2 people to kayak or canoe - about $40 for the 2

      June 24

    • Deb J

Is that $20 for each person? If so Eric would you like to share it, you steer, and I would pay half? I use a little otter kayak that has no rudder but with this deal better off renting than using shuttle.

I am planning to drop my bike at the take out landing and bike back to Clearwater. The bike ride is 8.5 miles and the road appears to have a shoulder most of the way.. Would anyone like to join me?

Kaylene, I called this morning and made my reservations. Zack indicated that they had plenty of room for others. You may want to call again. If anyone has questions, I suggest you call Clearwater Outfitters directly.

    May 25

  • Alec W.

Did you want us to pay now ?

I could only canoe if a spot becomes available. I could try Kayaking but I only have one hour of experience. I am a good swimmer.

    February 16, 2014

  • Dale

I responded with a yes, but can't really confirm until the date has been set

    February 15, 2014

  • Brittany

Just let me know when the date is, and I can probably make it!

    February 15, 2014

I'd do the canoe one. With all this cold and snow, we'll be lucky to get on the water by July if we dont get some nice 80 degree weather.
