Spring Into Hiking at Oakdale Nature Center

Oakdale Nature Preserve's 220 acres consist mostly of forest land with a small space for park amenities. Visitors can walk through prairie land, past mature trees and a 28-acre lake.

There is a parking lot at the main entrance off of Hadley Avenue, as well as street parking on the Granada Avenue side of the preserve.

Hi I was wondering about going to this alone. I have never been to an event yet so just wondered if most people already have friends.? Do you all walk in a group? Thanks

    April 1

    • Tom

Hi Camille, To answer your questions, yes and yes. The people are very friendly. You and Jim will make friends easily. Typically people stay in a group, but sometimes we break up into smaller groups depending on how fast or slow people want to hike. There are always people to hike with no matter what pace you like.

Members come with the intent of enjoying the day with likeminded people and meeting new people to enjoy future activities with. It's a great group, coming alone can be good! I hope you'll have a great time!

problem with dogs and nature is the sounds and smell scare the natural things as they are enemies. i do see people with pets there but they report missing the deer or fox i just saw cuz of their pets.might be easier to mix with others too.

the trails are all open and this being- weekend after n ext-- should be great for birdwatching and critters! the ski remark may be moot. they have a great lodge to warm up in next to the fireplace!
