William O'Brien Hike

This was a very popular hike last fall and we probably hiked close to 8-10 miles that day. There is lots of varied terrain at this park and we'll cover a good share of it.

I need to get some serious hiking in before the Croatia trip, as I'll be mostly hiking when we go. I may even have to get some new hiking shoes.

Please consider joining me on this hiking adventure at William O'Brien. We'll leave the Visitors Center promptly at 1:15pm for the hike.

Thanks Everyone for coming out today! Beautiful day and by my calculation most people got in about 7 miles. Let's hope for some snow this winter, as this should be a great place for XC skiing and snowshoeing.

Looks like several people are interested in carpooling form Woodbury. Lets meet at 12pm in the SW corner of the walmart lot and decide how to divide up then. I drive a white mustang and have a bike rack on the back.

Anyone interested in carpooling from Maple Grove area? I have a State Park permit

Oh, I forgot to add that the park entrance fee is either $5 for a day pass or $25 for a 12 month pass, that is good for 12 months from the month of purchase. I need to get a new pass and will be doing the yearly one. This group does quite a bit in the local State Parks, so a yearly pass may make sense for many.

    Hi Melissa,

The hike could cover up to about 6 miles. However, and for all those newer to hiking, there are several routes that will shave off some miles and make the hike shorter for those interested in a shorter hike. There are also routes that will make the hike longer for those interested. FYI - dogs are welcome, as long as they are kept on their leash. Parks rules.

I am familiar with this park, but a newbie hiker. How many miles do you plan to cover?
