New Event: XC ski/Snowshoe/Hike at Willow River State Park

Announcing a new event for Sitzmark Ski & Social Club!

What: XC ski/Snowshoe/Hike at Willow River State Park

When: Sunday, January 20, 11:00 AM

Event fee: USD4.00 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Who should come: Anyone who loves the outdoors and who likes to cross country ski or snowshow

Why: This park has trails for XC skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. Plus, if it's cold out there is a warming house in the Nature Center. No need to totally freeze one's butt off.

Event Description: There are 2 miles of hard packed trails on the north side of the river available for activities like snowshoeing and hiking. There 9 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails on the south side of the river for skate and traditional stride style skiing. The Nature Center classroom is open for use as a warming house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Carpooling is recommended because a Wisconsin State Park sticker is required. You can buy either a daily or an annual sticker. The daily sticker for non-residents is $10 and the annual sticker is $35. I have room in my car for two people and I have an annual sticker. FYI - An additional trail pass is not required to XC ski, snowshoe or hike.

Directions: Take I-94 east to Exit 4 (4 miles east of the MN/WI border). The truck stop is on your right after you cross the freeway. If you choose to go directly to the park, follow the directions to Willow River State Park. It's about 2 miles beyond the truck stop.

If the group is interested we'll go to dinner afterwards either at Mama Maria's in North Hudson or Barker's in downtown Hudson.
