Update - Willow River Hike - Satuday July 14th

Hi everyone --

I have been asked a few questions about this hike, so I wanted to get a note out to all of you.

Sue, and I and many of us from OSL have been to this Park several time over the last 3 years.  I believe Our OSL Group might just be the only Meetup Group in the area to go this this park so much over the last 3 years - whether Spring, Summer, Fall OR Winter! Thanks Sue for finding this wonderful spot for us.  I know you really had scouted out a Golf course too though ;) ;)

This is a fun hike, and IS NOT a "High-paced, fast moving" hike to break any speed records.  I realize there are more hiking Meetup Groups these days that have different Missions, and that's great for them.

I don't recall the distance off-hand since there are a few trails that are combined to get us from the parking area to the Falls.  And, just like any other hike I lead, there are stops along the way to chit chat & catch our breath.  Everyone has also always enjoyed the Falls, whether taking pictures, sticking their feet in the water, or doing like I do & jumping in to cool off.  Yes - I believe I am the only one from our group to do that, and there are photos!  Liz was there also to confirm it!

In any case, expect a ~90 minute hike out, and a ~90 minute hike back.  There will also be an option to hike up to the top of the Falls and take in the overlook.  Those who want to go can, and those who don't want to go up don't have to.  That hike up to the overlook will add approximately 60 minutes round-trip.

I do recommend hiking shoes as opposed to sneakers.  I do recommend shorts as opposed to any long pants.  And, I do recommend plenty of water - even a replenishment drink - such as GATORade.  Originally formulated at the University of Florida.  Just sayin ...........

So, there's plenty of room for more hikers.  AND, I will also let everyone know that THIS HIKE IS DOG FRIENDLY.  Please, Please use your best judgement in deciding whether to bring your pooch out.  We are practically at the height of Summer, and mid-afternoon has been hot.  Just as well, bring fresh water for your pup.  Lake water and/or water by the Falls isn't always accessible (or clean enough) for your pup.

I have room for a rider from NW Metro.  Just send a note of Post a comment.

Thanks all.  See ya Saturday.

Dave .
