SATURDAY 28 APRIL (THE COTSWOLDS) - BIBURY "the most beautiful village in England"
Day trip by minibus to hike in one of the most picturesque parts of the Cotswolds. The famous British artist and writer, William Morris once described Bibury as "the most beautiful village in England" back in the 19th century and it has changed little since.
This relatively gentle but fascinating 8-mile walk links enchanting villages and offers sweeping views beyond the upper Thames valley to the Berkshire Downs. There are delightful riverside meadows and hopefully we will enjoy the early bluebells coming up in the ancient woodlands.
£25 contribution per person for the day trip. There are no trains to this area so this is the best way to get there.
Use PayPal to make payment please. If you are unemployed and receiving social benefits please contact us to ask about paying a reduced fee.
Although there are pubs and cafes in some of the villages we will visit it is always important to carry some high energy snacks (dried fruit, chocolate, nuts etc) or bring your own packed lunch. Also remember to carry plenty of water.
It is impossible to state a specific return time as it depends on the traffic, weather conditions, the general pace of the group and other unplanned factors. Those who decide to join the hike should consider themselves committed for the entire day. Thanks.
Equipment (please read!):
Please ensure that you have basic adequate equipment. For this walk you are required to have hiking shoes or boots and a good waterproof jacket.
This is a fabulous day out combining meadows, woodlands and enchanting villages!
