An attractive 11 mile (17km) walk along the Thames Path ending at Henley-on-Thames.
This walk starts at Reading and joins a lovely section of the Thames Path which we will follow to Shiplake before passing through nearby countryside. We will then re-join the Thames Path and walk through a riverside park before arriving at Henley-on-Thames.
We meet at 8:50am at London Paddington train station to catch the 9.30am train to Reading station, arriving at 9:57am. You can meet us at Reading station if it is easier for you.
A Group-Saver ticket will around £12 per person. Please make sure you arrive on time to get a group.
We will meet inside London Paddington Station on the Main Concourse, near the travel information desk. I will send my phone number to those who RSVP the day before the walk.
Please carry a packed lunch, snacks and water.
There will be a pub during the walk where we can stop for drinks, but please make sure you bring a packed lunch (we will not be at the pub long enough for food).
The weather is likely to be hot and sunny, so please make sure you bring enough water, snacks and sun protection to last the day.
The walk will finish at Henley-on-Thames, where there is a pub (or cafe) for post-hike refreshments.
Trains depart to London Paddington at 24 minutes past each hour, and take just over 1 hour. We will need to change at Twyford on the way back.
It is impossible to state a specific return time as it depends on weather conditions, the general pace of the group and other unplanned factors. (We aim to finish the walk between 4:00 and 4:30pm)
Fee: The £4.00 contribution goes entirely to buying equipment and training for other adventures. If you are unemployed and/or receiving social benefits please contact me to ask about paying a reduced fee.
