Concerned about confusion: New MeetUp group for Young Professionals

user 2814348

Hi there - I saw that on the "suggested meetups" tab on the Oxford Movie Fans MeetUp page that a new MeetUp group's first MeetUp is listed there. If, as it appears, this is a new MeetUp group called Young Professionals Oxford, that's great, but shouldn't it have it's own MeetUp page rather than being listed as an event on the Oxford Movie Fans page? Just to avoid confusion...because the Movie MeetUp group is not age nor employment restricted and I think it will confuse people having events for a different group for professional 20-30somethings on the Oxford Movie Fans page. Oxford Movie Fans prides itself on being a very open and inclusive group and it would be very unfortunate if older or non-'professional' people were deterred from attending. Of course there is a place for age and employment restricted groups and great if you want to start one, but I strongly think the new group must have their own group and their own separate page on the MeetUp site.

In the interest of openess and safety all event organisers should display their full name and a clear photo. Also in reference to this site all events should bear a passing link to cinema and/or film unless by discretion of the organiser. As this has not been the case I have removed the suggestion in question.

I think it's a matter of common courtesy not to use another group's Meetup site as a means of advertising your own events. At least not without the organisers' express permission. I'm sure Oxford Young Professionals will be a successful group in their own right, without needing to use The Movie Fans' site as a platform.
