Guided Literary Tour of Oxford III

For those who preferred an earlier tour and for those unable to secure a place on the other two guided literary tours, here's a third (and for now at least, final) opportunity to learn more about the city's literary heritage.

Join us for a two hour tour of Oxford's literary past and present with Annetta Harvie, Blue Badge registered tourist guide for Oxford and surrounding area.

Annetta is Danish with family links to the City and the University going back 50 years and more, and comes recommended by Felicity Tholstrup of Hidden Oxford, Trip Advisor's highest rated Oxford tour guide.

The tour is £90 to be divided among those present on the day. Minimum 15 people; Maximum 20

Optional college entrance is not included in the price.

Thank you for organising Neil - a good tour with a knowledgeable guide.

Really enjoyed the walk yesterday - it was a good two hours, packed with info only a guide would know. I usually march around Oxford facing straight ahead and had no idea how many things there are to see if you raise your eyes higher up the buildings!

The guidebook Annetta recommended was called 'The Heart of Oxford', now retitled 'The Pocket Guide to Oxford', published by Oxgarth Press: http://www.oxgarth.co.uk/TPGTO-...

Annetta was very good, and it didn't rain :¬)

Yes, please, if still possible. (If so, hopefully this reduces the cost even further for everyone...)

Well, we finally managed to get our 15 names - just in time! The tour is now officially booked. As Richard notes, the meeting time has been altered to 2.30 on Annetta's advice as Saturday is an graduation day at Oxford University and it will be easier for a large group to gain access to colleges later in the afternoon.

£6.00 still sounds like pretty good value in my book, I'm happy to pay this on Saturday

To be honest, why should I pay, when I can go left, from the high street or end and I don't have to pay a penny ! :-) ! ....

    • James Hadfield

There are guides giving free tours, like I mentioned and would have in depth knowledge. I have no money now and be amazed if some magically appeared ! If I'm going on the money / payed / profit, one, will have to sell one of my TV's ! :-0 ! :-) ! ....

    • AilsaJ

James do you think perhaps you should change your RSVP? Only asking because Neil needs to know how many people are going to come and share the payment. Fortunately there are lots of free events in Oxford too, so there are plenty of other meets you won't have to sell your TV for!

Hi Neil - I'd like to take this tour - look forward to seeing you on Saturday. Do we have a time and a place to meet? Ah ha - I can see from the heading that it's 2pm, Martyrs' Memorial. Thanks. Gemma

Hi Neil I'm so sorry I now have to work as someone has been signed off sick and I need to cover them, if you do another one in the future I would love to attend. Tegan

If you can make either the 29th or 30th, that would be helpful!

If you have any trouble getting enough people to proceed with this tour, then please note that I would like to offer to guide your tour and I have more flexible and competitive rates for meetup members, any day on my tours from outside broad street.

I've now booked for 22nd June and cancelled 30th as you said don't double book. Was this right?

Bit of a learning curve here, I'm afraid Juliette! I'd put yourself back on the original list as this one has a slow take up. No problem double booking for this date and another one for the present......Have patience, we'll get there in the end!

  • Jo

Thank you Neil I will now cancel my attendance on the later walk Jo

    • Neil

Hold your horses Jo! Let's see if there's enough demand for this tour before you lose your place for the 29th. (I've temporarily reinstated you for this event). You can always cancel later if demand is sufficient for the 22nd.

    • Jo

Thanks that's kind of you - I thought I had cancelled so was surprised to see I was still there on 29th - thanks much appreciated
