CANZBA (a networking group for aussies and kiwi's in vancouver) have a Melbourne Cup Cocktail Reception at the Hastings Park Racecourse. The night includes the live satellite telecast, betting facilities, dinner reception and a 'fashions in the field' contest for best dressed.
Registration time is 5:30pm and start time is at 6:30pm. Cost for non-members is $45...but that's easy to win back on the trifecta. More info is available here.
