Volunteer with "Gift Of Water" (Haitian Water Purify Program)

The following quote is from the website: GiftOfWater.org

Gift of Water® is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing filtered and clean drinking water to the third world communities that it serves. Gift of Water®is a well-established water purification program that has been working for over 15 years, primarily in Haiti. Our experts have years of combined experience in water filtration and our purification system has been recognized by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Our purifier uses chlorine tablets together with nylon filters and activated carbon to deliver superior drinking water to rural communities. We have an established model for partnering with those rural communities in Haiti and we are continuously attracting new sponsors to help Haitian families. We frequently work in association with the Parish Twinning Program of the Americas (PTPA).

Lisa R is hosting this event and has enjoyed prior service with Gift Of Water. There are 15 spots available and the director will hold all of them for our group if desired. Lisa will bring us up to speed in the comments section regarding what the service entails. Side note: its a little tricky to find the location so Lisa will provide her mobile number to those attending "just in case".

I would like to attend if the weather is not to bad. Is there a suite number or a name on the door of the warehouse?

There was a small sign last time. I will email you my cell if you have trouble finding it.

The session is from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
I have participated once before. The tasks were easy after brief orientation. Each simple filtration system can provide safe water to one family for one year. This is a great way to give back!

More info: The warehouse is heated, but only gets to about 61 degrees if it is very cold outside. We will be doing carbon filters this time which can be very dirty. Wear older clothes.

The work involves drilling holes in plastic 5 gallon buckets and lids used in the filtration systems. If you don't feel comfortable using the drill press, you are needed to help in the relaxed assembly line. We will be working in a warehouse, so wear tennis shoes or work boots.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
