Our Route. Please read this.
Due to the new Panda Cub, the route has been changed. Please familiarize yourself with it.
As soon as the Zoo opens we will rush to the Panda Exhibit to check out the Panda Cub. (Cross your fingers the little tyke is awake.) After that we will check out the large Panda Exhibit which has other Red and Black Pandas and a baby Takin. Then it's up Bear Canyon, a route we don't usually take, which has various monkeys, Sun Bears, Brown Bears, Otters, etc. Then it's off to see Giraffes, Rhinos, Flamingoes and hopefully Cheetahs. Next we will see the Camels and then it's down Cat Canyon where will see the Singing Dog, Striped and Spotted Hyenas. As for the cats, we will Siberian Lynx, Snow Leopards, Jaguar, Pumas and Amur Leopards. Then it's up the big Escalator to the Lions, Jaguars and Elephants.
We will break for lunch at the Sabertooth Grill. Here we can rest, enjoy lunch, trade epic yarns about our adventures so far on the shoot, and talk about cameras and gear. You can either bring your lunch or eat at the Grill. Here's a link to the Menu: Sabertooth Grill
After our rest it's off to see Secretary Birds, those lovable Meerkats and Mongoose! Next we will repeat a bit of our trek along the camels, but will eventually reach Orang Utans, Gorillas and some very cool Aviaries. Gibbons will be our next destination along with various types of Monkeys. Cross your fingers we the elusive Mandrill. Next comes the large Flamingo Pond. It's mating season for them.
This will put us at the exit. You can either leave at this point or see more. There is the Reptile House, the giant Turtles, The Hummingbird House and much more, including the Bird Eating Spider.
Some special notes (Please read this too):
If you RSVP YES, please show up, otherwise change your RSVP to NO.
Bring walking shoes, water, hats and sunscreen etc. or whatever you need. A telephoto zoom is the best lens to bring. You can also pack your lunch if you like.
If you are a member of the Zoo and have a guest pass that can be used by a non-member, please indicate so in your RSVP. This generosity has helped quite a few people in our photo shoots in the past, as the current admission for non-members is now (gulp) $42.00. Thank you.
Members needing assistance or who have questions can ask me, Laurie or Barbara. We will be glad to help. There will also be other experienced photographers present willing to help out.
It should be another great day out. If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas you can email Walter by going to my member profile. If you get lost or separated from the group, call my cell phone,[masked]-7893. See you there!
