Photo Shoot: San Diego River Foundation - Youth Day of Service

An important part of the mission of PPS is to work together with the local community. To this effect I have agreed that PPS would provide photographers for the event described below. About 10 photographers will be needed to cover this event, but more are of course welcome. I've capped this event at 20. To make it easier to sign up I am posting this event as a PPS Photo Shoot.

(The photo on the left shows the volunteers from the 2013 San Diego River Days Event)

We will meet at the parking lot at the west end of Voltaire Street in Ocean Beach where it crosses West Point Loma Blvd. on Saturday May 11 at 8:30AM. You can come early if you like. For GPS key in 2500 Bacon Street, San Diego, CA 92107. That is the address of Robb Field.

We do ask that you post your best photos to the event album if you attend for which we will provide the link after the event. You may post as many photos as you like. If your photos are used you will be credited as photographer.

Any questions, contact Walter via email. My phone number for the day of the event is[masked]-7893.

Subject: Youth Day of Service at the River Mouth of the San Diego River

This is the request from the Foundation: "Meet at Robb Field parking area at 8:30 am at approximately 2500 Bacon St, 92107. Volunteers that day will be working to prepare a neglected section of the River Trail for a native plant demonstration area. Specifically, they will be helping to define a footpath, lay down weed prevention, and prepare for planting. We are hoping to get pictures of all of the volunteers that day, that will eventually be used to create a photo mosaic. So, as volunteers arrive and check in, we would like head shots of everyone. If there are multiple people who would like all of their pictures taken together that is fine. As long as everyone gets in at least one picture. Then, as the event progresses, we would like to get some action shots as well. We are taking the head shots to insure that every volunteer is represented in the photo mosaic."

Please Note: By submitting a YES RSVP and participating in any PPS event, you agree that PPS, Organizers, and Event Hosts are NOT responsible for your safety or for any injury or damage to your person or your property, or that of your guest(s).You agree that you have read the instructions of the announcement and that you and your guest(s) are assuming all risks of participating in the event.

Hi, Folks. Great experience with the SD River Park Fdn! The participants and the event were all quite special and deserve to be chronicled and recognized.

Greetings, I sent you all a message regarding the photos for the event. The first event album has been filled, no worries though, I've created a second one: http://www.meetup.com/pacificphoto/photos/21850212/

Walter, I have about 80 photos of the projects going on at the Mission Valley site. (Since I was the only PPS photog there I tried to get everybody and everything that was going on.) Do you want me to upload all of them here or put them on Dropbox and share the folder with the Foundation. I met some wonderful people working by the river and want to be sure they can access the photos too.

A worthy cause, and nice to see kids out helping to improve their surroundings, even in a small way. Thanks to the San Diego River Foundation.

A most enjoyable morning with a fun group shooting this event. I really like that we helped the San Diego River Foundation out again this year. They are a great group of people to work with and all they do is inspirational and beneficial to all who live here. Thanks for coming out and helping today. Feel free to upload as many images as you like. If you can, please try to do so in the next few days as they want to create the photo mosaic as soon as they can. Thanks!

Great event! I was feeling under the weather the last few days, and being around such energy certainly picked me up. Great group of volunteers -- so hard working and so photogenic!

    What a meaningful event!
I will definitely try to make time next year; I am swamped with family events already.

I was planning to sign my son up to do this with me, but he's sick today. Not sure if he/we can make it tomorrow, so I'm going to have to change my RSVP. Sorry!

I attended last year and had a great time. I'm on call this weekend for work. I don't want to take the chance of not making this great event. I encourage everyone to help this organization.

Just my luck that this great event falls on the wrong day. I have another event to photograph on this day. I would love to do this but can't :(

I would very much like to help; however, I have already volunteered to take photos for a jr. high school play that day.
    Next time!

This is a wonderful thing you are doing Walter and I sincerely wish I could join you. My family is coming to SD for Mother's Day weekend. Hopefully next time I will be able to pitch in and help.
