We at SSDLPW are focused on bringing our canine pals together in their most natural state - in a pack. We walk our dogs in local parks and trails so they can enjoy the outdoors while making new friends.
We have repeated walks at Bare Cove (Hingham) for the "northern" South Shore residents, and at Burrage Pond (Hanson) and Ellisville (Plymouth) for the "southern" South Shore residents. We also sporadically have walks in other locations. Walks range from easy, paved trails to more rugged hiking trails. Suggestions are welcome, and if anyone would like to host a walk, we would love to have you!
Best of all, all of our Meetups are FREE!
So, all friendly pups and their owners, come join us on our walks for exercise, socialization and some fresh air.
Remember - A tired dog is a well behaved dog.
Of course, dogs can be unpredictable at times, so in order to make sure everyone stays safe and has a good time, we have some guidelines that we follow for each Meetup:
Before the walk:
In the case of inclement weather, hosts may have to cancel last-minute. Please check the event page before heading to the walk.
If you need to back out, please update your RSVP. While we welcome drop-ins, we do not like no-shows.
Remember to bring water for yourself and your dog, as well as bags to pick up after your dog. Not every trail has pet stations.
At the walk:
Event hosts will wait at the designated meeting spot for 10 minutes (unless otherwise specified) before heading on the walk. Please arrive promptly. We use this time as a meet-and-greet for the dogs, so they can sniff each other and get adjusted. Please make sure your dogs are either on leash or closely supervised during this time, as we do not yet know the dynamics between each dog.
Most walks are leash-optional, but off-leash dogs must be under total verbal control. We take this very seriously, as many members let their dogs loose and do not watch them. If your dog is off-leash, you MUST keep a close eye on them. Organizers have a right to request closer supervision of your dog if they feel safety is at risk. We want to keep up our good reputation of having safe, relaxing walks!
When attending Meetup events with this group, you and your dog walk at your own risk. While the majority of our dogs are sweethearts, we are not responsible for any fights or bites, nor do we take responsibility for any injuries incurred on the walks.
Our events are non-smoking. Some of our members have allergies and other health issues that make walking + breathing smoke a health hazard. If you choose to smoke while on the walk, please hang back or step off to the side while doing so. We promise to not leave you behind!
Please refrain from talking on cell phones or using headphones during the walks. We aim to get to know one another and appreciate nature at our Meetups. Furthermore, use of these devices can distract owners from supervising their dogs.
After the walk:
We encourage picture-taking on the walks. If you take any pictures and wish to share, please upload them to the event page on the Meetup site.
Rate the Meetup! Feedback is very important to us so we can keep improving our walks. Any concerns or feedback that you wish to remain private can be emailed directly to the event hosts.
Thank you for your cooperation and interest in the group. We look forward to seeing you and your pups at some future pack walks!
